Here's an article arguing that the real American star of the World Cup is referee Mark Geiger, with credit given as well to the other members of his team, American Sean Hurd of Jacksonville Beach and Canadian Joe Fletcher. So far, they've worked "two near-flawless games in the group stages," and so find themselves rewarded by working Monday's noon round of 16 matchup between France and Nigeria.

You can see them at work on ESPN or Univision.
