NEWARK, N.J. – Among the legion of supporters Jaguars coach Gus Bradley has on the Seattle Seahawks is assistant head coach-offensive line Tom Cable.
I asked Cable on Tuesday how Bradley managed to stay positive during an 0-8 start that included eight double-digit losses.
“That’s who he is,” Cable said. “He’s genuine. I love him. He’s a special person and a special football coach you don’t find very often. What you see is who he is. It’s real.
“He’s going to be very successful.”
Cable and Bradley were on the same Seattle staff for two years (2011-12). Cable was previously the head coach in Oakland.
After sat in the big chair, Cable was able to be a sounding board of sorts for Bradley, “just to remind him to be himself and stay the course through the hurdles and speed bumps. He has a great philosophy and he never got away from that.
“Down the road, as this thing goes forward, people will get to see how he sees it and what he believes in.”
