The bomb squad determined the suspicious bag found near the St. Johns River Saturday is safe, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The west half of The Jacksonville Landing was closed Saturday due to a suspicious bag reported near the St. Johns River.

An off-duty officer was told there was a black gym bag between two flower pots just after 6 p.m. and everything west of the stage was evacuated, said G.W. Grant.

There were no threats associated with the bag but the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is taking every precaution to render the bag safe, Grant said.

Updates will be released as they become available.

The bag was the property to a homeless man and stocked with his night's supply of ripple!

He's hoping it will be returned to its rightful owner.
