Officers investigate a traffic crash in Jacksonville where a pickup truck went over a ledge on North Edgewood Avenue.

A man is in critical condition after the pickup truck he was driving fell over a ledge off a Northside roadway Saturday about 4 p.m.

The man, who was not identified by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, was traveling southbound on North Edgewood Avenue when he left the roadway and struck a cement pole that was lying on the ground just before Ina Street.

The pickup truck flipped over the ledge of Edgewood and the driver was ejected.

“At this point in time he is in very critical condition,” said Lt. M. J. Powers of the Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to a hospital, Powers said.

The truck came to rest at Bright Avenue and Vance Street.
